Power of Art
Currently running on PBS is a series called “Simon Schama’s Power of Art.” I haven’t seen it yet, but I am still highly recommending it to one and all without reservation.
Simon Schama had another series called, “A History of Britain” that has been acclaimed the world over and is incredible to watch. Even if you are only so-so interested in history or Britain itself, it is still fascinating to watch.
Simon Schama is highly educated and more than highly insightful. His observations and deducements about the events in the history of a country, and how they led to the present, are fascinating and pure genius.
His excitement about the subject matter is also infectious. Even though he is narrating in front of the camera in basically a “still shot” you can still see the excitement coursing through his veins in that he is barely able to keep still.
My own personal interest usually falls more to art than history, so to see this excellent historian and genius of observation attack art and its impact on the world - well, that excites ME to motion.
In this case, my motion is to come online and tell everyone who cares to read my blog to seek out “Simon Schama’s Power of Art” on their local PBS station and absorb every bit of it. Oh, and I am posting this only AFTER I have already set my TiVo to grab it for myself!
Blogging Yet Again
I’m starting my blog again. I’ve had a hard time adjusting to a new format after losing Diary-X a year and a half ago. Part of the reason was because of “Codexed.” They came along right after Diary-X went down, VOWING to re-build it.
I very specifically remember them saying something very close to, “This is not something we are planning way off in the future. This is happening NOW.’ So I gave them my kudos and my support and I sent them some money, just as many others did.
Now a year and a half later, what do we have? Well, it’s hard to tell. I often go to Codexed.com looking for an update. And silly me, I’m always thrilled on the rare occasions that there is an actual update. I say “silly me” because I should have learned by now that about 95% of the “updates” have to do with some update or tweak they have done to the “update forum.” For crying out loud…..
Anyway, it’s obviously not going to be done anytime soon, if ever. So I have really been delving into the blog format and getting used to it. I plan to add old posts of mine (with corresponding date stamp) to this on an ongoing basis, as long as updating regularly. Probably several times a day, just like I used to on Diary-X. woohoo!
I’ll also be playing with my theme and tweaking it, learning how all that works (though having learned CSS over the last year will probably make that all easier), before creating my own template(s). Eventually I hope to have templates to share, along with original graphics.
