Power of Art

Currently running on PBS is a series called “Simon Schama’s Power of Art.”  I haven’t seen it yet, but I am still highly recommending it to one and all without reservation.

Simon Schama had another series called, “A History of Britain” that has been acclaimed the world over and is incredible to watch.  Even if you are only so-so interested in history or Britain itself, it is still fascinating to watch.

Simon Schama is highly educated and more than highly insightful.  His observations and deducements about the events in the history of a country, and how they led to the present, are fascinating and pure genius.

His excitement about the subject matter is also infectious.  Even though he is narrating in front of the camera in basically a “still shot” you can still see the excitement coursing through his veins in that he is barely able to keep still.

My own personal interest usually falls more to art than history, so to see this excellent historian and genius of observation attack art and its impact on the world – well, that excites ME to motion.

In this case, my motion is to come online and tell everyone who cares to read my blog to seek out “Simon Schama’s Power of Art” on their local PBS station and absorb every bit of it.  Oh, and I am posting this only AFTER I have already set my TiVo to grab it for myself!
