Time Lapse Video, Earth Hour, Sydney Australia

I found mostly ads for this year’s Earth Hour on YouTube, but I was looking for a time lapse video of last year’s Earth Hour of some large Sydney.  I finally came across this one from Sidney Australia from 2007.  It’s pretty dramatic!

I’ve been reading all the different opinions about it, and of course they are all over the place.  While I’d like to see us rely less on electricity when it’s unnecessary, I don’t think we want to reduce power plant capacities and things like that, because emergencies can create a large amount of need for it at times.  You just never know.

I guess I think of it like going paperless – it’s a good idea to reduce.  But really, you den’t ever want to be entirely paperless.  There’s way too much potential for disaster there.  Also, someone observed that Earth Hour would be a good time for opportunistic burglars!  I’d have to agree he has a point!
